The AL-100 is superb. I have found little on the web that truly explains it as it really is so i will. It uses MR-16 12v bulbs found on the net or in most shops for around £5.00 for a good brand. Firstly the critical thing i found that makes it more use able was this. It states max 45w bulb but they fit a 35w for some reason. So first thing to do is take out the standard 35w and buy this exact bulb as its the best possible. Phillips Masterline ES 45w. Why you ask becuase its a 45w energy saver but gives out 75w of light so doubling the initial light output but staying within the wattage limit (crafty eh!). Your now at around 1000 lumens roughly with that bulb and in a realistic ballpark. It can do upto 100" and not the suggested 50" but of course we have doubled the light output to X2. It is not too good on old videos and video games although it does work. Dvd's and digital Tv is much better overall. Its lower in resolution than the expensive ones but its a great one to buy if just want to watch TV and films. Gamers I'd go for the HD type with much more resolution this just wont do it to be honest. I'm still working on how high I can get the bulb upto b4 it breaks lol. If I figure out I can get it brighter i'll post again either here or somewhere else. Overall I like it, its cheap, the bulbs are cheap and its good. PS. Get a screen to project it onto as it makes a noticeable improvement on the picture and brightness as I have a massive white wall and its about 20-30% better on the screen. I have mine on a 8ft(100") screen and its ok for tv and dvd's like i say.
