Nextag Posts Record 10 Million Monthly Unique Visitors and Fastest Growth of All Online Comparison Shopping Sites
Company Is Second Most Visited Comparison Shopping Service
San Mateo, Calif. (September 16, 2004)
NexTag, Inc. today announced that it has surpassed 10 million monthly unique visitors with August year-over-year growth of 122%, the fastest growth rate in the comparison shopping category based on Nielsen//NetRatings monthly data1. This continues growth patterns in which NexTag consistently outpaces the growth rate of the comparison shopping category overall in addition to other independent comparison shopping sites. Collectively, traffic to independent online shopping comparison sites grew 50% year-over-year.
"We are delighted to reach this milestone and welcome more than 10 million monthly shoppers. More people are learning that NexTag.com is the best site to shop and compare prices on just about everything consumers buy today," said Purnendu Ojha, CEO and co-founder of NexTag.
NexTag's growth was also confirmed by web site visit data from Hitwise2 which reports that NexTag had the fastest annual growth in the category and doubled its share of category web visits in the last year. This makes NexTag the second most visited comparison shopping service in the category with a site visit growth rate three times that of its nearest competitor.
"NexTag will help the growing number of online shoppers save money as we continue to build our comparison shopping portfolio of product and service categories," added Ojha, who noted NexTag regularly tests new shopping categories and capabilities to enhance the range of services offered to NexTag's growing customer base.
