Good drive but very slow

Drive is very slow during data transfer to external drive via USB 2.0 interface. Maximal write speed is about 5MB/s when writing large files. During long write sessions with many files drive has average speed about 3.5 - 4.5MB/s - that is slower than my USB thumbdrive !! Even ordinary 2,5" notebook drive in cheap USB 2.0 enclosure is almost 3x times faster.

I had the 400Gb Western Digital Ext HD and used it for about a year until it crashed. It's heat dissipation is very poor and it gets over heated very quickly. I wouldn't recommend Western Digital drive.
