I bought this unit for it's dvr function. So far it's performed beautifully. Video shows nice on tv screen. Program Guide is nice. You can schedule recordings weekly and daily. With a mac computer the 605 is only a hard drive. You can not update it with a mac. You will eiither need wireless and the wireless plug in or a windows based computer.
